DoSTOR Dec13,2007-- China's enterprise-class IT demand is changing now.
Industry / Application-Oriented Demand
Demand based on hardware gradually weakened, but this doesn't mean that users do not need hardware. The fact is, their demand is changing from product-oriented to industry and application-oriented.
"This trend force equipment vendors have to make corresponding changes to adapt to the changing needs of users. But it will remain essentially the same despite the changes. As long as suppliers grasp the users' requirements', they will keep their hold on the market. " said Cuiyi Ran, IDC China's computing Systems Research Manager and Director .
New Growth Point
Cui Yi Ran maintains that enterprise hardware market is promoted by the following aspects.
According to IDC, besides the promotion of 3 G technology which brings a large amount of purchasing, IPTV will also be an important stimulating factor . Although the direct benefits that IPTV will bring seems to be not so impressive, but it has a great potential in digital content creation market which IPTV will influence seriously.
Secondly, the use of HPC ( High Performance Computing ). According IDC's report<>,The sales of x86 servers on HPC application reached more than 20 million US dollars in 2006.
However the use of HPC in China merely focused on certain sectors, such as oil exploration, weather forecasting, aerospace and other fields.
On the contrary,in the advanced nations HPC applications have been used in a greater scope of industries with different depths of penetration. IDC believes that, if the borders in HPC could be broken with a business model in the form of outsourcing, it will breath new life into China's HPC market.
