DoSTOR Feb 12,2008-- The world's fourth largest software company, which is also the largest internet security technology vendor Symantec, and China's largest network equipment vendor Huawei announced that their joint venture company started to run in Chengdu,China on Feb 5th.
This means that after nearly 10 months' preparation, the new company formally entered the operational phase. In future It will provide security and storage products and equipments around the world.
The new company headquartered in Chengdu, China. Huawei accounted for 51% of the shares, and Symantec accounted for 49%. Symantec Chairman and CEO John Thompson was appointed as the new company's chairman. Huawei's president Ren Zhengfei would be the new company's president. The two companies' head both got into battle personally shows that the two parties attach great importance to the new company.
As early as May last year, Huawei and Symantec announced on the establishment of a joint venture headquartered in Chengdu, China. Symantec will contribute $150 million in the new company, as well as part of its storage and security software intellectual property licensing. The new company will fully enjoy Huawei's intellectual property licensing, and will get Huawei's R&D capabilities and engineer team. The total number of employees is expected to exceed 750.
According to Huawei president Ren Zhengfei, ,Huawei partners with Symantec in an attempt to its development, sales and service of network security and storage products, aiming at suppling the world's leading network security and storage solutions to enterprises all over the world.
