DoSTOR Mar 18,2008-- EMC and Digital China Holdings Ltd announced the establishing of their joint venture today in Beijing. This is the first JV of EMC in Asia. EMC and Digital China will each hold a 50% stake in the new company. Yao Wu, Digital China vice-president, will be president of the JV. EMC will extend its business in China by Digital China.

According to the two sides, the JV company will assist local solutions in China R&D Center to focus on interoperability testing and integration of EMC storage systems and software. The JV will acquire or invest a few appropriate software companies to combine the software with EMC's hardware to make a whole storage solution. These solutions will be sold by EMC and its channel partners to clients. And Digital China will provide related services. As a result, EMC, Digital China, the JV, channel partners form an organic system. This also means more oppotunities to small ISV in China.

On the release meeting, Steven Leoanrd, EMC President of Asia Pacific & Japan Operations ,said that "Let EMC's products spread over every corner of China by the household name Digital China".

According to Ye Chenghui, president of the EMC China Region, disclosed on the conference that the JV would register in Hongkong, while established offices in Beijing and Shanghai. As mentioned the reason  of setting the JV, he said that distributor Digital China is a large IT service company and hoped EMC and Digital China could built an information ecology chain which more ISV could participate into, to offer complete solutions that involve Chinese software to meet Chinese customers' demand.

Guowei, board chairman and CEO of Digital China, said that Digital China was successful in the transformation to client-oriented services in 2007, and in the future, Digital China would continue to offer services to meet customer needs. He also noticed that, setting up a JV with EMC is a further step for Digital China's transformation to an IT service firm. As a distributor who got channels throughout the whole country, Digital China has cooperated with more than 100 international IT companies whose products range from consumer market to enterprise class users.

In November last year, Joe Tucci, president and CEO of EMC, had promised that EMC would double its investment in China to $1 billion by 2012. And setting up JV in China indicates that EMC is strengthening Chinese market .
