DoSTOR June 1,2008--We had a talk with Toyou Feiji(a Chinese storage provider) on its market strategy, organization system, infrastructure, and resource allocation.
When we met again with the general manger of Toyou Feiji, Zhou Zexiang, Toyou Feiji had basically transited from channel partner to a vendor. When asked about whether there was any "pain" during the transition, probably because of the release after experiencing, Zhou Zexiang's tone was not so heavy.
According to Zhou Zexiang, the transition from reseller to vendor was a long and painful period, because the new positioning and thinking, including the organization system were totally different. After the historic period of 2007, Toyou has changed itself form a reseller and semi-vendor to a real vendor.
As the change occurred, Toyou not only was transformed to be a vendor, but also brought great change to its market strategy, organization system, infrastructure, and resource allocation, even its behavior and thinking from higher level to lower level.
"In the past decades, Toyou has developed a lot of business partners. They have confidence in Toyou's technology power and market promotion". Zhou Zexiang believes that those partners who have close ties with Toyou have become closer and closer partners as they help Toyou tranform itself.
After the completion of transition and 20 years of development, 2008 would be Toyou Feiji's "beginning year of great-leap-forward development", he says.
"In our planning from 2008 to 2010, we would enter the first-tier market and try to become a challenger in first-tier market. As for Toyou itself, we always emphasize three innovations: product innovation, marketing innovation and application innovation. As for those innovations, on the basis of product innovation, we would try out best in marketing innovation and promote the application innovation ".
Xie Hongjun, the general manager of Toyou Feiji product sector, he says that form 2008, Toyou Feiji would gradually penetrate into high-end market and promote the development of its own innovative products. In 2007, Toyou Feiji unveiled its three software products and the high-end and mid-range storage system. After the development period, Toyou Feiji's product line and development base has been formed. And in the future, from the beginning year of 2008, Toyou Feiji would prove its power by great-leap-forward development.
