D-Link:Encircling the 'Cities' from 'Rural Areas'

Cui Hao @ 2008-06-12 17:25 DOIT Media Group

DoSTOR June12, 2008-- As an international brand, D-Link's business has spread all over the world. We asked Chen Qiyan, D-Link China products division general manager, "What's the difference between the domestic market and international market?"

Chen Qiyan shared his view on the different need of international and domestic market. Though it's a little late for China to start its information construction, domestic users hope to use advanced technology. And in some cases, domestic users' need is even more advanced than the need of international firms'.

Chen Qiyan believed that this was a gold chance for D-Link to enter this market. "We hope that in the next few years, D-Link could gain tens of billions market gross. And the domestic market is the most important part of it." How to achieve the goal? Chen Qiyan has already got a map in his mind.

Chen Qiyan acknowledged that enterprises would not migrate their core business to platform based on iSCSI immediately:"It's impossible for us to enter the core parts of their IT infrastructure now, but we can start from the ‘surrounding' parts". All roads lead to Roman.

He noted that, by using widely used Ethernet effectively, iSCSI got bright future in application of remote offices and branches. In addition, SMEs will tend to deploy storage based on iSCSI for its good price/performance ratio.
