DoSTOR @ 2008-07-09 17:57 DOIT Media Group

DoSTOR July 9, 2008--BakBone Software (BKBO.PK), the leading provider of heterogeneous integrated data protection solutions, today announced that for the sixth consecutive year, BakBone is the number one provider of Linux data protection software in Japan. The findings are from IDC Japan's recently published report, Domestic Storage Software market Analysis of 2007 and 2008 to 2012 Forecast. According to IDC, BakBone's NetVault: Backup market share is 71.3 percent and can be largely attributed to BakBone's robust Linux software strategy, strong Japanese support and user-friendly technology.

"For over ten years now, BakBone has faithfully served the data protection needs of the Japanese market. We attribute much of this success to our dedicated resources located in Japan, BakBone's worldwide support and our deep understanding of the Japanese market's needs," said Daizo Okoshi, vice president and general manager, BakBone Japan. "We owe our leading market share position to our continuing efforts to provide customers with data protection technology that is innovative, flexible and easy to manage and provides support on all major OS platforms."

While BakBone maintains strong global success in Linux, the company also continues to innovate on the Windows, Solaris and Mac OS platforms. BakBone's sixth consecutive year as Japan's leading Linux data protection software vendor comes on the heels of BakBone's recently announced full VMware support, SharePoint support and expanded Oracle database protection.

"Today's data protection vendors are not only challenged with protecting customers' increasingly complex IT environments but doing so with easy-to-use, cost-effective technologies that are locally supported," said Ken Horner, senior vice president of Corporate Development and Strategy, BakBone. "At BakBone we believe that data protection solutions should integrate easily into customers' environments and should look the same regardless of the platform, and customers should be able to access support any time of the day, regardless of location or language preference. Our dedicated regional resources and our philosophy of keeping data protection simple and cost effective for customers have helped us achieve a broad global reach in the data protection market."
