China external disk storage market grew 43% Q2 2008

DoSTOR August 18,2008--CCID Consulting research shows that because of the growing volume of enterprise data and application integration, Q2 2008 China's external disk storage market grew 43%.

Compared to the same time last year, Q2 2008 faced a tough economic environment which had negative impact on storage market worldwide . But thanks to the growing volume of enterprises’ data and application integration,China's Q2 2008 external disk storage systems market continued to maintain a high rate of sales growth---- 43%.

IBM led the market and EMC is the one who grew fastest. 

From a geographic perspective, due to the imbalance of regional economic, the main external disk storage systems market of 2008 Q2 is still in developed areas, such as North China, East China and South China . Besides that, since infrastructure was destroyed in 512 earthquake, Sichuan's rebuilding will boost demand for storage products. SMB market is still maintained a rapid development, manufacturers pay attention to less developed areas. For example EMC established office in Urumchi Xinjiang province this April.

The Beijing Olympic Game is a major driving force for North China storage growth. The increasing telecommunications traffic and video surveillance made sustained demand. Olympic construction of the transport sector promoted storage demand related to intelligent control and digital monitoring, historical data archiving.
